Anti-Human Immunoglobulin M (IgM)

IgM is the principal immunoglobulin in the initial response to infections where it effectively binds to bacteria, red blood cells and certain viruses.  IgM levels may be increased in bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, and is a useful protein for monitoring the course of the immune response over time.
