Product Specification:
The product is made by immunizing the host (goat) with purified Human C3; antiserum is defibrinated and delipidated, monospecificity is tested by IEP versus normal plasma and 2x concentrated human serum. Immunoturbidimetric reactivity is determined on Hitachi 911.
The product can be customized to various automated immunoassay platforms. Factors such as detection limit, sensitivity, linearity, and antigen excess (prozone) can be adjusted and controlled.

C3 is a 1663 amino acid protein produced by hepatic parenchymal cells. It is required for the activation of classical (antigen - antibody based), alternative (non specific) and lectin pathways of complement systems. C3 is a central component of the immune system and people with C3 deficiency are more susceptible to bacterial infection. Measuring the C3 level, along with other complements, is useful to diagnose and monitor the activity of autoimmune disorders such as SLE.
